Adobe Announces Creative Cloud Updates, Supercharged by NVIDIA RTX GPUs

At the Adobe MAX conference, Adobe revealed significant updates to its Creative Cloud suite, including enhancements to Premiere Pro, After Effects, Substance 3D tools, and its overall video ecosystem. These updates are powered by NVIDIA RTX and GeForce RTX GPUs, which accelerate performance across both cloud platforms and local RTX-enabled workstations.

Premiere Pro’s New Generative AI Features

Among the most anticipated additions is the Generative Extend feature in Premiere Pro (beta). Using generative AI, this tool can seamlessly add frames to the beginning or end of a video clip, powered by Adobe’s Firefly Video Model. The model is trained exclusively on licensed content, ensuring legal safety for creators. This allows video editors to extend or adjust footage without the need for reshoots, making editing more efficient and flexible.

Substance 3D Enhancements for Creative Workflows

The Adobe Substance 3D Collection has received substantial upgrades, including new AI-powered features for 3D content creation. These include ray tracing, AI-enhanced delighting and upscaling, and image-to-material workflows—all powered by Adobe Firefly, further elevating the capabilities of 3D artists.

A key feature is Substance 3D Viewer, which is now in open beta. This tool integrates 3D elements into 2D workflows, allowing design teams to easily open, view, and collaborate on 3D files. This improves compatibility and workflow efficiency with other RTX-accelerated Adobe apps like Photoshop.

Firefly AI Expands Across Substance 3D Collection

Adobe’s Firefly AI has expanded within the Substance 3D Collection, introducing tools such as Text to Texture, Text to Pattern, and Generative Background in apps like Substance 3D Sampler and Stager. These tools enable creators to generate textures, patterns, and backgrounds using simple text prompts, enhancing creative possibilities in 3D content creation.

New NVIDIA Studio Driver and Optimizations

NVIDIA’s October Studio Driver will soon be available, optimized to support the latest AI-enhanced creative tools from Adobe. The driver ensures smooth performance for applications like Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Substance 3D, providing an enhanced experience for creators working with RTX GPUs. The NVIDIA app beta is also available for easy access to Studio Driver updates and additional tools like NVIDIA Broadcast.

AI-Powered Video Editing in Premiere Pro

Premiere Pro has evolved significantly over the past few years, introducing powerful GPU-accelerated tools like Auto Reframe and Scene Edit Detection. New AI-driven features, such as Enhance Speech, AI Audio Category Tagging, and Filler Word Detection, streamline video editing, helping editors work faster and smarter.

The Firefly Video Model, now in limited beta, is a game changer in video editing. It enables users to generate and edit video clips using simple text prompts or images, filling content gaps without the need for additional shooting or editing. This feature also allows the creation of prototype clips to inspire new video ideas.

Topaz Labs AI Plug-in for After Effects

Topaz Labs has released a new AI-powered plug-in for Adobe After Effects that enhances video quality. This plug-in utilizes AI models for tasks like motion deblurring and video enhancement, and it runs up to 2.5x faster on GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPUs compared to the MacBook Pro M3 Max. This acceleration drastically reduces rendering time while improving video clarity.

NVIDIA plans to introduce more TensorRT enhancements and additional Topaz Video AI effects to the After Effects plug-in soon.

Next-Level 3D Content Creation

The Substance 3D Collection continues to transform 3D design workflows with powerful AI-driven tools. In Substance 3D Sampler and Stager, features like Text to Texture, Text to Pattern, and Image to Texture allow creators to quickly generate references and parametric materials from simple prompts.

Stager’s Generative Background tool offers designers the ability to create and customize 3D backgrounds with text prompts, automatically aligning the lighting and camera perspective for faster iterations.

Substance 3D and Photoshop Collaboration

Substance 3D Viewer introduces a seamless workflow with Photoshop, allowing 3D models to be easily integrated into Photoshop projects. Edits made in the Viewer are automatically synced back to Photoshop, providing a connected and efficient design experience. RTX GPU acceleration further enhances performance, with the GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU delivering up to 80% higher frame rates compared to the MacBook Pro M3.

The latest Firefly-powered features in Substance 3D Viewer, such as Text to 3D and 3D Model to Image, offer new ways to create and control 3D content using text prompts, giving artists more flexibility when generating scenes and design variations.

Expanded 3D Tools in After Effects

The latest release of Adobe After Effects includes a wider range of 3D tools, enabling creators to embed 3D animations, cast realistic shadows on 2D objects, and isolate effects in 3D space. A major update is the RTX GPU-powered Advanced 3D Renderer, which accelerates the rendering of complex tasks like HDRI lighting, cutting down rendering times by 30% on GeForce RTX 4090 GPUs compared to previous generations.

By pairing Substance 3D tools with After Effects’ native 3D capabilities, artists can achieve precise texturing and create highly realistic visuals. The integration offers access to over 20,000 parametric 3D materials, lighting environments, and 3D models.
