  • Snap looks to grow its 3D commerce application with latest acquisition of Vertebrae, terms not disclosed

Snap has acquired AR commerce and retail platform, Vertebrae. To date Vertebrae has raised over $10 million in venture funding and has a staff of 50.

Vertebrae’s has an impressive client list that includes Tumi, Microsoft, Coach, Party City, Adidas, Toyota, CB2, and David’s Bridal. In a recent whitepaper published by Vertabrae their research shows that 78% of respondents would prefer to engage with an AR application than watch a 30 second video.

Vertabrae’s key for success is that they make it easy to create 3D assets. Companies can leverage scalable asset creation through Vertebrae’s network of our in-house team plus hundreds of freelancers.

The company has a specific technology they call Space AR that allows 3D images to be represented in space in a scalable fashion so consumers have real-time tracking that enables for accurate size and dimension perameters.
