Leading Canadian Developer Continues Global Expansion as Dutch Studio Marks Third European Investment in Last Six Months

Canadian game developer Behaviour Interactive has acquired award-winning Dutch developer Codeglue. Behaviour Interactive, known for the ongoing success of its asymmetrical horror title Dead by Daylight, is one of the largest game developers in Canada. On the other hand, Codeglue, founded in 2022, has grown to 30 employees. It is recognized for its expertise in co-development across platforms and was awarded the Best Studio title at the 2022 Dutch Game Awards. In the future, the developer will operate under the name Behaviour Rotterdam.

Rémi Racine, Behaviour’s co-founder, CEO, and executive producer, expressed satisfaction with this acquisition. He highlighted that Codeglue’s experienced team will enhance the capabilities of their Services division. Racine stated that the acquisition aligned with Behaviour’s needs and culture, making Codeglue a clear match.

This marks Behaviour’s third expansion into Europe within the last six months. Prior to this, the company acquired SockMonkey Studios (now known as Behaviour UK – North) in February. Last month, they established a new studio, Behaviour UK – South, which is composed of former Antimatter Games employees.

Peter de Jong, CEO and co-founder of Codeglue, emphasized the commonalities between the two companies, both of which have navigated the gaming industry’s transformations over the past 23 years. He expressed admiration for Behaviour’s work and culture, stating that Codeglue is excited to become part of their success story. De Jong will assume the role of General Manager for Behaviour Rotterdam.

In recent years, Behaviour has significantly expanded its operations. This expansion includes the establishment and acquisition of new studios, not only in the UK but also in Seattle and Toronto. Additionally, the company has announced the development of two new video games within the Dead by Daylight universe and a film adaptation in collaboration with horror studio Blumhouse.
